The Fairfield Estate, South Wigston |
||
|
Dear Resident,
Over the past two months, four residential burglaries have been reported in the Fairfield Estate, South Wigston. While any burglary is concerning for residents, this level of activity places the area below national averages and indicates that burglary remains relatively uncommon occurrence locally.
Four residential burglaries over two months equates to roughly two burglaries per month. To put these four cases into context: About 13,800 per month. (Exact figures vary by source)
Compared with this national scale, the four burglaries locally represent a tiny fraction of UK activity and reflect that the Fairfield Estate remains comparatively safe.
National burglary levels have fallen significantly over the last decade due to improved home security technology, neighbourhood policing, and awareness campaigns.
However, we have noted that even small spikes – such as four crimes within two months – deserve attention, not alarm.
As with most burglaries, houses left in darkness and with insecure access points such as windows, back gardens, and doors continue to be common targets. We encourage you to stay alert, check your home security and report any suspicious activity to police as soon as possible. This will enable officers to attend the area and utilise their powers such as Stop Search.
While reported burglaries in your area may feel unsettling, the overall picture is reassuring. The Fairfield Estate remains a safe area.
We will continue to conduct high visible patrols in the area and keep you updated with the actions taken.
